Tier 2: Principles of Trauma-Informed Practice

Presented by Sarah Schlote, MA, RP, CCC, SEP, Registered Psychotherapist, Canadian Certified Counsellor and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, Tier 2 Trauma Training builds on the Tier 1 Trauma Awareness Training and will review the New Haven Trauma Competencies, trauma-focused screening and assessment principles, and best and promising practices in trauma treatment approaches. Sarah will introduce the ARC Model (Attachment, Regulation, Competency) and the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics as frameworks to guide assessment and interventions, as well as attachment- and co-regulation focused principles and practices drawn from Therapeutic Presence and attachment theory for professionals, parents and other caregivers.

Guidelines for creating trauma-informed work environments, whether agencies or schools, will also be provided. Case studies that look at the intersection of developmental challenges and trauma will be reviewed and discussed.An assigned number of seats has been designated to each agency/partner.
