Deep Dive Learning is a gateway into Sarah Schlote’s broader body of work, offering opportunities to explore specialized topics in greater depth, beyond the scope of any single training program.
These learning experiences grow out of Sarah’s years of clinical practice, teaching, and education across psychotherapy, trauma, somatics, the human–animal bond, and other areas of emerging and established knowledge.
And not every Deep Dive is about horses.
Some offerings grow out of Sarah’s work with equine-assisted psychotherapy or build on concepts introduced through the EQUUSOMA® program. Others have no equine component at all, exploring topics that are relevant to psychotherapy, trauma recovery, embodiment, professional practice, the human experience, or other areas of interest.
What connects these offerings is not a particular subject matter, profession, or approach. It is a philosophy of learning: taking a focused topic and exploring it with curiosity, nuance, and depth.
Deep Dive Learning is for people who are curious, engaged, and interested in going beyond the surface, exploring the current beneath. Depending on the offering, that may include health, helping, and healing professionals, equine professionals, educators, people trained in Somatic Experiencing® and/or EQUUSOMA®, or individuals who are interested in deepening their own personal exploration and growth.
Each learning experience identifies its intended audience and any prerequisites, so you can find the learning opportunity that is right for you.
Plus, registration includes Lifetime Access to course recordings (see our Terms & Conditions for more information).
Some subjects deserve more than a brief introduction.
A single concept can open the door to much larger questions. A familiar practice can look entirely different when viewed through another lens. And sometimes, the most meaningful learning happens when we have enough time and space to slow down, make connections, question assumptions, and explore what lies beneath the surface.
Deep Dive Learning creates that space.
These offerings are designed to take a focused topic and explore it with greater nuance, context, and depth. Rather than trying to cover everything, each learning experience has room to linger with what matters.
The aim isn’t simply to give you more information. It’s to support integration on a deeper level, bringing together top-down knowledge and bottom-up knowing to embody learning that you can sense and feel.
Deep Dive Learning brings together a broad community of learners with different backgrounds, experiences, and reasons for being here.
You may be a:
Not every offering is intended for every learner—and that’s intentional.
Different topics call for different levels of knowledge and experience. Some are designed for a broad audience, while others assume professional training or previous EQUUSOMA® study. You’ll find that information clearly identified with each offering.
You don’t have to follow one prescribed path. You can go where your questions take you.
Deep Dive Learning encompasses focused learning experiences across a range of subjects.
Some may connect directly to Sarah’s work with trauma in interspecies relationships. Others may explore psychotherapy, trauma, attachment, professional practice, or other areas of inquiry—with no equine component at all.
The common thread is depth, not subject matter.
Focused explorations of specific clinical, therapeutic, equine, somatic, relational, or other areas of interest.
Opportunities to extend existing knowledge, revisit important concepts, and continue developing your professional practice.
Explorations of ideas and approaches that are evolving within psychotherapy, trauma-informed practice, interspecies and interpersonal neurobiology, and related fields.
Not every important question fits neatly into a larger curriculum. Some Deep Dives are opportunities to spend concentrated time with a particular question, phenomenon, or area of practice simply because it deserves closer attention.
The specific offerings will evolve over time as new questions emerge, new learning becomes available, and areas of Sarah’s work continue to develop.
Deep Dive Learning isn’t a single curriculum. It’s a collection of opportunities to explore particular subjects at particular depths.
Some offerings are introductory and accessible to a wide audience. Others are intended for professionals or learners with relevant foundational knowledge. Still others are specifically designed for EQUUSOMA® or Somatic Experiencing® graduates who want to build on their existing training.
Some will involve horses. Some won’t.
You’ll find the intended audience, prerequisites, format, and other relevant details with each offering.
Start with the topic that interests you. Let the depth of the exploration determine where you go next.
Deep Dive Learning and EQUUSOMA® are connected through a shared foundation, but they serve different purposes.
EQUUSOMA® is a comprehensive, two-year training program. It provides a structured pathway for developing an integrated understanding of interspecies trauma recovery in equine-human contexts and relationships.
Deep Dive Learning is more expansive and flexible. Each offering stands on its own as a focused opportunity to explore a particular subject in greater depth. Some Deep Dives may complement or build upon teachings from EQUUSOMA® and/or Somatic Experiencing®; others have no connection to equines whatsoever.
For some learners, a Deep Dive may be an opportunity to explore an area of interest before deciding whether a larger training commitment is right for them. For others, it may be a way to continue learning during or after completing the EQUUSOMA® program. And for some topics, EQUUSOMA® training may be a prerequisite because the Deep Dive is designed to build directly on that foundation.
There is no requirement to move from one to the other.
Think of EQUUSOMA® as a pathway, and Deep Dive Learning as a collection of doors you can choose to open.
Learning doesn’t always happen in a straight line.
Sometimes a question leads to a new area of interest. Sometimes a single idea changes how you experience and understand something you’ve been working with for years. And sometimes you simply encounter a subject at exactly the right moment.
Deep Dive Learning is an invitation to follow those threads.
Choose a topic. Bring your questions. And take the time to go deeper.
