Personal Consultation and Roadmapping
Many people from around the world reach out to Sarah requesting individual support, either for their own healing journey or to help an equine in their life. Since Sarah is only licensed to provide psychotherapy in certain jurisdictions, she is unable to take on clients that are located in places where she is not registered/licensed or otherwise permitted to offer psychotherapy.
However, there is still a way to access her unique skillset!
Sarah offers clinical consultations to members of the general public (such as yourself) who are wanting to better understand themselves and/or an equine.
These consultations either involve gathering information about you, or about you and an equine you are reaching out about. Some details that Sarah may inquire about include but are not limited to:
- Why you are reaching out for a roadmap (the presenting issues)
- Any relevant historical / background / contextual information
- Adverse experiences that have been encountered
- Any formal or suspected diagnoses
- Your (and/or the equine’s) strengths
- The intended goals
- What has been worked on so far using what approaches, techniques, medications, supplements, etc., and to what degrees of success
Sarah will then provide a conceptualization using various relevant frameworks and concepts to help make sense of what may be happening for you and/or for the equine (or both), and offer a working theory from which to guide next steps. Suggestions for referrals to additional services that might be helpful as well as resources and reading materials may also be provided.
Having a bird’s eye view of the terrain and a roadmap for navigating it can be helpful in figuring out a plan for your ongoing journey.
Scheduling an individual consultation for roadmapping:
- Please review the main Consulting landing page, which has a general overview about consultations, topics and areas of integration, and how to prepare for the consultation.
- Please contact Jennifer Matz at [email protected] to go over service forms and policies, payment options, and to select appointment times.
- Jennifer will set you up in Owl Practice, our practice management software, and will provide you with instructions on how to create a profile so that you can log in and access the appointment via Owl Video. Please ensure that you have set up your Owl account at least 3 business days before your appointment so that we can finish associating your profile in advance. We are unable to assist you with tech-related issues at the last moment.
- You will receive an email reminder 72 hours before the appointment, and a text message reminder 2 hours prior to the appointment (if you provide a cell phone number).
- At your appointment time, you will log into your Owl Practice account and click the button to join the video call. We recommend that you save your password for easy access and that you are set up in advance so that the call can unfold smoothly.
Rates: As of September 1, 2024, Sarah’s rate is $200 CAD/hr, with tax for Canadian residents. A sliding scale may be available in cases of financial limitation, in particular due to economic disparities due to marginalization. We ask that consultees who request a sliding scale review the sliding scale categories described here and let us know where they land in terms of the scale.
Cancellations: There is no penalty for cancelling your appointment with at least 48 hours’ notice. Consultees will be billed the full rate of the consultation if cancelling within 48 hours from the appointment time or for missed appointments. Cancellation or missed appointment fees will be waived on compassionate grounds, such as in the event of sickness, a medical emergency requiring urgent treatment or intervention, or a death in the family. Cancellation or missed appointment fees will also be waived if we are able to reschedule your appointment within the same week.
